[FL] how can i build a background bass (or any element) gradually over time? say 8 beats before bringing the bassline back in. or is that a stupid question?
i got sidechaining working with the peak controller and fruity compressor, is it something similar to that?

"FL is toss."
"It's a toy."

"just to be clear: FL is cheap. its oversimplified. everything is presets. u cant manipulate it nearly half as much its 'rivals'. and it has a pretty gui for idiots like u to understand. no credible producer would shout about usuing this peice of shit. its even marketed as 'ideal for beginners'. the countless 'dance hits' made with FL come from knobhead bedroom producers. much like yourself."

As much of a wanker as you are, I am still going to help, because I'm awesome.

If you want to build the bass up, you need to automate either the channel volume or the mixer channel volume it is assigned to. Right click on one or the other and create an automation clip or edit the events straight into the pattern. If you have compressors and the like in the FX chain, then you have to automate the mixer volume, because it will do all kinds of weird things otherwise.

Fading is pretty old hat these days though, you're probably better off automating the cutoff on a filter or something like that.

sheesh - bit of a love hate thing you got going on there mate,

automate the filter or EQ or Vol or Saturator on your bass (if you have one)

Or automate all three, try em all until you find one that works well in your mix, I couldnt tell you how to automate in fruity loops as I've never used it but I do know the fruity filter is well cool so I would have a shot at automating the cut off on that

i said vanguard was toss and a toy, stupid ****

FL is a whole differnet thing. theres nothing simple about it apart from its great intuitiveness. it has endless features and options.. unlike vanguard. wank

I usually just create an automation clip on the volume control or fruity free filter.

Rubez, I don't think he was trying to edit ur post behind ur back, he was trying to show you that the same arguements you use against vanguard can be said about FL as well, and it's true.. FL is the Vanguard of Sequencers.

taint true. u could quite easily learn vanguard inside out. FL never, u can learn new stuff all the time, even if youve used it for years. big difference. shit analogy.

using fruitly versus for example cubase, doesnt limit u in anyway. its just a different way of doing things.

whereas vanguard is limited compared to other synths

I don't understand how you know all this? I thought you were new to producing?

I personally did not like the way you arranged your productions in FL i far prefered Cubase and now I use Reaper which although still a little buggy has ALOT of flexibility when routing audio.

know all what? ive only just started producing, more just mucking around at the moment. i like FL, it is very intuitive. u can start using with good effect it without breaking out the manual just to see how the basics work. but also the more experienced you get with it, the more possibilites open up. it can be for beginners but its up to you if u want to see it through to a professional level.

if i had started production using cubase with no manual id probably be stumped and wouldnt be as far as i am with FL just now. theres no proof FL is limited in any way compared with cubase etc.
