wow. 8 lives gone in one day! I have the luckiest cat in the World!
So today started like so many other before it and ended as though nothing had happened. What makes today so remarkable is that the middle part was anything but ordinary and took my cat on one of the craziest adventures one could imagine for such a fine fury four legged friend.
I had the day off work and left my house at 1pm to start running chores. My first stop was across on the other side of town where I stopped for 45 minutes and then drove back across town to do some banking. I then got on the highway and went to pick up pet food. I figured since I was already so far down the road I might as well drive the extra 15 miles to my favorite oil change place, even though it was rush hour, the weather was perfect here in New York so I didn't mind the bumper to bumper with the windows down. Hell, even the few times I had to slam the breaks to avoid some idiots didn't bother me.
So I get to the oil change place and the guy pops my hood, and my cat jumps out and BOLTS out the back of the building! My stupid cat had been stuck under my hood all day long and some how managed to hold on through it all and not get killed by the belts or fans or heat under the hood!
So many times over my cat should be dead and yet after I rushed it to an animal hospital it checked out with a 1 degree fever and was apparently hungry and scared but other than that it was fine. It's now safe and sound back at home sleeping and eating like cats do and acting like nothing has happened.
The vet was saying that they see a bit of this in the winter when cats climb up there for the warmth, but they had not seen it happen on nice days like this. They also said that the ones that are still alive have usually only gone one or two blocks, not 40 miles/ 4.5 hours of chores, and they usually all have serious injuries and burnt paws.
I'm still awe struck.   but so happy that it's fine. I feel like I should be asking what I owe the universe to make this one huge favor even.
My cat is sooo grounded.

*nusty does not wear sunglasses at night, they make it hard to see and you could trip
