headphone splitter question

just wondering, with a headphone splitter to take the connection from 1 to 2 do you lose anything? like loudness and quality?

I do it all the time and don't notice any difference, using low-quality iPod iPod type headphones. Maybe with high-quality headphones and a high-quality audio source you would notice, but I can't answer that.

yes quality will degrade... you are connecting two headphones possibly with different impedances to the same output. the current driving each of these assuming you have the same impedance on each headphone will be cut in half. if you have headphone which require a large amount of current you will get poor sound response.
