It's not really a genre name by itself, but more of a description of the mood of the track. In any case I really don't think this is a useless one. I'm one of those freaks who listens to completely different music in the morning than in the evening.

Well that depends you see, there are two sorts - mid morning trance & early morning trance. Dont get confused when discussing them or you will appear foolish

I've heard this one before. I think, more or less, it refers to the kind of track you'd play at an all-night party just as the sun is rising. Orbital's "Halcyon & On & On" is probably the quintessential morning track, although it isn't trance.

I quite like "morning trance," even though that may be a silly description. There are some tunes that, for lack of a better description, remind me of a beautiful spring morning when the weather has finally warmed up and all living things are alert, active, and colorful.

i think some morning trance is just trance tunes repackaged as ambient music, which in the end resemble neither, in order to extend a trance tune's shelf-life and return on investment.
oh btw. morning trance is a term which isn't new at all. it have been used for several years within the goa/psy community to refer to very melodic psytunes which are usually played by DJs early in the morning after dancing for the whole night.
