How are they normally?

I'm going to Seton Hall University, an expensive private school, and I'm supposed to be receiving my laptop late June. The computer I have currently is absolutely terrible. I don't even think it should be considered a computer to be honest. I need a much better computer to handle my gaming needs and even to do schoolwork(this doesn't even have microsoft word)

I want a good laptop, so what should I expect from SHU? An old model, or something brand new? Maybe something a year or two old? I dunno, should I look into getting my own laptop and somehow turning down theirs?

The laptop that I got from my university was the IBM Thinkpad T60P. Their top of the line laptop with all the options.

Some people have had problems with them, but I got a brand new laptop without any issues.

It's hit or miss, but I'd give it a shot. Then again, I'm going for a degree in software engineering, and the laptops are required.

Dont waste your parents money if you are going to a private school to play video games. Dont be a statistic for the amount of freshman that fail out.

i can't imagine they're going to give you a gaming laptop. you don't need that much power to write papers in Word, check your email, and use the internet for research. gaming should be the last concern on your mind when attending college. how about trying not to fail out your first year when you realize these aren't the same push over classes that you breezed through in high school.

Nut, that's the computer Seton Hall is giving me, and are those specs considered good?

I like how you guys are hasseling me because I'm a gamer and want a laptop that supports that. Sorry, I didn't know going to college meant I no longer allowed to enjoy my free time on the computer.

Besides, I'm getting the laptop june 25th. The semester starts in September. It's not like I'm going to be extremely busy.

That last sentence kinda scares me : (

There was a 3,000 dollar deposit to cover the costs if we destroy their property. We get that back at the end of the schooling. We pay like 200 a quarter for it and have the option to buy at the end of the school career for a dollar.

depending on the school and your major you may have a very different laptop from what the rest of the students get.
