do you live in an apartment complex or a house?
if you live in an apartment complex, there are situations where the cable company connects corresponding wires from each apartment to a mini box, and then connect the mini box to another main box, where that box runs underground/up to a pole. there was a situation for me where i was basically sharing a small weak mini box with 10 other people in the complex, and we always had cable problems. just based on my experience.
