USA Local Scene/Discussion Forums (Americans READ!!!)

Forgive me for the long post, its what happens when you can type as fast as you think.....not always a good thing.

Alright, I am sure Swamper is rolling his eyes right about now....I honestly don't know what anyone else thinks......but I am sure Swamper is somewhat confused on a decision on how to split up the US, I am assuming this ofcourse, but maybe this will help him out......This is what I think........The West Coast apparently wants one single forum, to cover Washington, Oregon, and California. If you ask me, thats way too general.

It is all kinda tricky.......Creating individual cities would be almost TOO specific, and the traffic in the forums would be small, very small, I assume. Sure, you could make a West Coast Forum, have California divided by San Diego, LA, and SF.....but thats still splitting it up too much considering the amount of US TAs on the board. Then have Oregon and Washington, which really contain only 1 major city. But still, for the amount of people I've seen for the west coast forum entirely, which is like only 35 people, it would be too specific.

These forums are for local scene info\discussion. Well, this is what I think.

USA NorthWest - Covering: Washington, Oregon, Idaho
USA SouthWest - Covering: Nevada, California, Utah, Arizona
USA South - Covering: New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana
USA North - Covering: Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana
USA NorthEast - Covering: NY, Ohio, Penn. NJ, etc.
USA SouthEast - Covering: Florida, Georgia, North Carolina etc.

If any major city exhists within any of the states, possibly create a forum inside the sate forum just for the city and the rest is the state. Ex: Cali = LA.... Florida = Miami (has already been done) NY - NYC (has already been done)

Creating a Houston Forum and a Dallas forum would be too specific for example. Infact, I don't even know of anyone on this board that actually lives in Houston. But there are about 10 regular posters that are in Texas alone. Throw in the states of New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Lousiana, and eventually you got a pretty active forum. Ofcourse, I can't think of one person on this board from Oklahoma or Louisiana, but eventually, when people see the local discussions for their region, I imagine they will sign up and join.

As we all know, there aren't TOO many Americans on this board, so you shouldn't really have to get too specific. I mean, I don't plan on using these forums to get all the local scene info for my city and the surrounding area. We all have our own local boards for that. This would be great just to communicate with people within your region and whatever else.

Its definitely diffult cuz this isn't a small country, and we are split up all over the place. Generalizing the entire US into 6 different forums seems like the best way to do this. Now Swamper, I am putting you into consideration. I highly doubt for the rest of the boards exhistence, you want people requesting a North Dakota Forum, or a Nebraska forum, or a forum for their own city lol.......Generalizing solves all this. EVERYONE has a place to go, and no one is left out. At first, I thought creating individual states would be a good idea.....but eventually, over time, people are gonna want their state added here and there, people are gonna be left out, blah blah blah......so u get the idea. Overall, Swamper its your board, you do what you want.

Let me know what all you guys think.

the NYC forum does attract people from all over New England anyhow.. so i do not see the need for a special North-East Forum

see but i really REALLY dont think west coast is too general.. im in washington, but i would go down to cali for a large massive (which actually happens quite frequently, i have lots of friends who make the drive)... i drive down to oregon all the time also to go to stuff in portland. i dunno, i think the argument to swamper will fly a lot stronger if its a forum for a general (tho reasonable for everyone in it like west coast) area as opposed to tons of little forums.

NE>NYC>plus all the smaller states out to about Michigan and down to say Viriginia

SE>Miami>plus all the others (LA, AL, GA) in this region

Midwest>Chicago>could overlap a little with the NE up near
Michigan/Illinois/Wisconsin...but also be able to include TX

NW>Washington, Oregon, N Cali

SW>Arizona, Cali, TX possibly...thats even more classifications but i dunno what to do otherwise.

the auustralians had to bitch for forever before they got 1 forum...so this is a little less plausible. tho im still not quite surre why there arent more Americans here...the trance scene must just be THAT bad...whatever/

No, it's not that bad at all.
Our scene in the USA is actually very good.
Here in Washington DC there are hundreds of famous DJ's spinning every week. (Ferry/Armin/Tiesto, Talla, Deep Dish, many others)

So the Trance scene is alive and well.
If you go to any college campus you'll see hundreds of kids enjoying Trance and Techno.

Many people here are very well-educated in electronica, they know different names and styles.

Well it wouldnt really be tons of forums, I think you are mis-understanding the idea. The idea I am talking is being general.

USA NorthWest - Covering: Washington, Oregon, Idaho
USA SouthWest - Covering: Nevada, California, Utah, Arizona
USA South - Covering: New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana
USA North - Covering: Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana
USA NorthEast - Covering: NY, Ohio, Penn. NJ, etc.
USA SouthEast - Covering: Florida, Georgia, North Carolina etc.

The above forums wouldn't consist of little forums for each seperate state. The Northwest would be one big forum.....Where people from Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, all talk in one forum... Same for the others......Southwest would be one big forum of people from Nevada, Cali, Utah, Arizona.......and the states that the Forum would represent, would be listed under the forum description.

Perhaps instead of a Northwest Forum and a Southwest Forum, you guys would just prefer a "West Coast" forum.......its up to yall I imagine.......

It couldn't really get any more simple than this. Its not too specific, and not to broad. Should create just the right amount of traffic in each forum, and I imagine will attract more local TAs for everyone.

If you ask me, West Coast is just too broad. You got LA, San Diego, San Francisco, etc......Seattle, then Portland.....I mean, if you don't mind talking to people who are over 1000 miles away, then thats cool......But its like having a Forum for the South containing Texas and Florida and all the between states. I don't know many people willing to take a 2-3 day road trip to Florida, when the DJs most likely will visit Texas eventually.. Unfortunately in Texas, EVERYONE is far away.....but thank the Lord we aren't the outsiders. If anyone in the surrounding states wants to go to a good party, they come to Texas.

You'll notice of the 6 Forums I listed. Each "division" has atleast 1 major state that is somewhat local, with a good scene and that people from surrounding states are usually willing to flock to for a party. South East has Florida. South has Texas, Southwest has Cali, Northwest has Seattle, North has Chicago AND Minnesota, and North East has NYC, Buffalo, etc.....The entire US is generalized with just 6 forums.

I really don't see why Swamper wouldn't follow this idea.
