Minaya - Reflections March 07..Progressive house/Trance mix
Back again for March sorry for the delay.
So I decided to go for a song that has a very small intro to it. I chose it because I think every DJ knows what its like to have someone ask them if they know "That song that goes like..." So my friends got a kick out of it because they always ask me that question as well = ) Its a very uplifting track and if you enjoy it check out anything else by Mitiska he's got a lot of talent.
The next song was thrown in last minute but its full energy. If you've been listening to me for quite some time it seems that Matt Rowan and/or Jaytech have become main stay's in all of my mixes and with this remix I will continue to support everything they do.
This bootleg from Dave Dresden was put up for grabs on his myspace and if you were one of the lucky few to grab this gem you would know how much fun it is. It adds a nice twist to an already great track by Dave Spoon. Drug users come one and all and enjoy the words of the great Bill Hicks throughout this great bootleg. For those who dont know if you check constantly Dave is always giving out free mashups and Re-Edits on his myspace so always keep an eye out.
Mashtronic is known for making nice tough progressive house/electro tracks and this is no exception. Full of buildup and energy this track takes off and its great. I decided to throw in an acapella to liven things up anymore and hope you enjoy it = )
I found this track listening around on beatport and cant get enough of it. It has a tough edge yet light uplifting feel which is always what I look for. Overall a great track that should be very well received <3
Another main stay in all of my mixes, Jody Wisternoff delivers another great remix this time for Ikon's Signs. A darker and moodier feel to this one and the guitar strings always get me along with that piano. The vocals are soft and soothing and it comes together very well. Jody is on a huge streak so far I can only hope his next track is equally as impressive.
This next track is a huge change in style for Chris Lakes but its one that I welcome with arms wide open. What should be a great summer track Carry Me Away is very soothing and relaxing but right away it builds up energy for its massive breakdown. It's like someone took Empty Streets and mashed it up with Your Loving Arms. Great track that ill be playing out for quite some time <3
Following is another very melodic yet energetic song by Infish called Sweet Aroma. On remixing duties are LeRon and Yves Eaux Remix..quite a mouthful I know. A great track that's very relaxing during its breakdown but just brings a nice heavy bassline when the song swings into full effect. Very addicting little melody as well <3
David West is great always coming out with huge uplifting funky songs. The song like most of his work just goes all over the place and back with tons of effects and that signature West sound. This will be a huge part of my sets to come so definitely look out for this one = )
I've always been a fan of Andre (atb) since I was younger and my sister had been a huge fan back when he made his huge debut with 9am and It's A Fine Day. She always bought his albums and to this day doesnt mind hearing new Andre from time to time. Since then I've been hooked on his melodic and bouncy songs. Still one of the better uses of classic piano melodies for trance songs in my mind. His new album Trilogy will be released at the end of this month and the first single is Renegade. For those who dont know A and T is just another name Andre goes under for remixes. Alot of you will either hate or enjoy this song either way ride it out what starts out a little cheezy really becomes a song worth listening to.
Richard Durand has been good about remixing songs lately and he does it yet again with his remix for Way Out West's The Fall. Although i'll be honest his original work leaves alot to the imagination I am growing fond of looking out for his remixes. Techy and hard is the way he usually likes it but the breakdown is the best part simply because its when Way Out West kicks in with great lyrics and melody. Enjoy!
If you know anything about Tiesto's new album you would know how much BT had to do with it. Besides the other collaboration Brian's involvement sticks out most in Bright Morningstar. A very well done trance song on both of their parts it really sounds like those old trance songs you would hear Oakenfold play back in the day. The breakdown sounds very much like a piece from This Binary Universe which is actually great because its just plain beautiful.
I think by this point everyone knows I would use any piece of Imogen's Heaps throughout my mixes. I heard this while watching The Holiday at work and knew it had to be my outro this time around <(^^<)
I hope everyone enjoys I know I had alot of fun making this mix. :music (Links in the title as usual)

Hi Minaya, I thoroughly enjoyed this mix. Lovely track selection and transition and general feel of the set was excellent. I would definitely recommend this to everyone - even if just for Renegade (this rounded everything off for me quite superbly - one gorgeous track).
Thanks for this chappo - I will be sharing with my friends very shortly. And I just know it's gonna be a hit.
Cheers.
