I used AVG free. ITs free, not bloated, works and good detection rate compare to those

all antivirus engines use the same typical schematics to catch malicious material, but some software makers do a bit more to touch certain areas. go to www.virustotal.com to see the popular list of antivirus softwares people are using.

McAfee is better, although far from perfect.

I used to have McAfee but switched to Norton Internet Security for performance reasons, and my comp has felt much better ever since.

i prefer Kaspersky.
they are leading the pack right now (many current awards for best).

Internet security suites are always a pain in the arse necessity,
after having used all the major brands in the past two years,
i like Kaspersky.

How does it compare to others as far as using resources go?? I know Norton/Symantec and McAfee are pigs in that department.

Kasper is a breath of fresh air in the internet security arena.

it doesn't even come close to being a memory/processor hog like some of the others.

i have five computers in my house. four desktops that i built from scratch,
and a maxed-out dell XPS M1710 laptop.

all of them have Kaspersky internet security suite and A Squared anti-malware on them.

couple that with a Cisco hardware firewall router (linksys is Cisco's more affordable line- they work good also),
and you can travel the world on your computer without being worried about security.
