Big Ears ReFx nexus: Any Good?hs

Hey guys, I was just looking around to see if any of the latest softsynths are any good. One of them that came to mind was ReFx nexus. Anyone have some feedback on it or recommend any new top softsynths?

A rompler is a synth but a synth isn't always a rompler

@ ezra, why don't you download the demo and try it for yourself?

yes it is! A synth is anything that produces sound synthetically, hence the name. So a sampler is in fact a type of synth, and romplers as well.

If you wanna get technical, you can define a synth as a device that is in some way able to generate and alter sound, via filtering on something like that. So a straight-up tape recorder isn't a synth, but add a filter and some envelopes (like Nexus) and you have yourself a bona fide synthesizer

....at least that's how I'd define it

Anyways, Nexus is great, but you can't edit and save presets which really sucks balls!

Isn't it like a 1gb demo or something stupid?

Anyways, checked it out, and meh, not impressed.

I agree with you Rusty, it's not all that impressive for the price. Nothing you can't do with some synth work.

So Kontakt is a synth too? An Akai is a synth as well? An MPC is a synth?

I maintain that, unless it generates (aka synthesises) its own sound, rather than playing back samples, its not a synth...

Nexus is awesome, all the big producers use it, even Jarre

It's a rompler with synth engine.
