I have M-Audio Audiophile 2496 which I've been using successfully for 4 years on XP.
Now I bought a new PC which came with Windows Vista. There is no sound in Vista at all.
I read on the internet that M-Audio has no plans to release any drivers for Vista. Is this true? Do any of you have this card, any constructive suggestions?

Re: Windows Vista and sound cards
I'm sure they will EVENTUALLY... but that is beside the point; you have to install XP or buy a new card.

First of all, I'm not sure by what classification you're referring to the M-Audio line as "best". Most reliable in that particular price range, perhaps?
Anyway, hate to join the firing squad, but really, how many threads have there already been about Vista here, and how many dire warnings have been posted about why you shouldn't touch it yet if you're planning on doing any producing?
Vista's just not ready for prime time yet, or really for use by anyone other than the early adopters. It's your own fault for just wanting to have the newest, hottest shit without thinking about the consequences (i.e. mature vendor support). Don't ask us where to get XP either. You must have managed somehow before you got Vista!

I agree the 2496 is great for the price, but I'm sure it's not the best, not even close.
If you didn't buy your previous computer from a dubious shop, there should have been an XP cdrom delivered with it.
