"If Keyboard were a record label, we could get rich
with unsigned artists like these." - Keyboard Magazine

Currently in its second incarnation, Layabout, a Los Angeles-based jazz/pop trio founded by native Texan keyboardist and vocalist Edward “Tex” Miller, continues to astound its local and regional audience with a unique brand of piano music that touches equally on Ben Folds and Steely Dan, while incorporating harmonic elements from the works of such luminaries as Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel and evoking the thoughtful rhythms of Bill Evans.

"This is quiet and beautiful stuff and darn close
to the perfect soundtrack..." - Hits in the Car

Manisha
Combining a coming-of-age in southern Virginia with her Maharashtrian heritage, Manisha Shahane takes you on an Imaginary Train ride to Dadar's Shivaji Park in Mumbai and Tupperware parties on Carol Court with her bilingual debut album, Peace in Progress. This is no surprise given that Manisha grew up performing in the Western tradition, coupled with appearances in the Indian vein, often accompanied by her father on tabla. Influenced by her mother's love for singing, Manisha started singing at age 6 and began writing songs, poems, and music at age 11, just as she embarked on classical piano studies. Her discovery of jazz subsequently led her to study with the esteemed Charlie Banacos. With experience in genres ranging from Jazz to Classical to Rock to Indian music to Reggae to Afro-Cuban Armenian Salsa – and now her original music - Manisha has shared the spotlight with musicians such as percussionist Jerry Leake (Ali Akbar Khan, Natraj), guitarist Kevin Barry (Mary Chapin Carpenter), drummer Alison Miller (Sheila Jordan, Norah Jones) and guitarist Prasanna (Joe Lovano, Hari Prasad Chaurasia). After shoveling more than 40 inches of snow following a Boston blizzard, Manisha wisely accepted a marriage proposal and relocated to sunny Los Angeles in late 2005 where she is working on her second album.
