Producing in Digital Performer5 (mac)

Hi all,
i have a chance to work in a studio that is run on Digital performer 5. I havent heard much on this DAW application from many house/trance producers. The studio is more set up for traditional recording (like live bands and vocals)... So i was wondering what VST's and applications I could add (mac based) to make great house and trance sounds. I am getting battery3 for percussion sounds and need input on what synth(s) and other sound modules that would be something to start with. What is a good VST for bass lines? electro-ish leads and proggy dark sounding pads? There is so much available its hard to narrow things down...Anyone who is proficient in Digital performer have any tips?

Any info appreciated, thanks!

Having been a DP user since version 2.72... You've got an amazing tool at your fingertips. It has a lot of features that totally kick ass... and a few quirks that are completely frustrating.

I would get started with the built in instruments that are included with DP5. they had to compete with logic some, and they're actually pretty cool. I also picked up a copy of MOTU's MX4 plug-in. Check out the demo ver avail on the website. Its a subtractive synth just like a Virus, but under $300.

I did however... I must mention that I did switch recently to Logic Pro...

ok cool. thanks CReddick ...i will look into the MX4 for a synth application. I personally would rather use another DAW but since DP5 is available I want to make the most of it. How are the built in instruments? I have yet to play around with it (my first session will be on friday). Im mostly concerned with creating quality bass lines so i want to find a decent instrument or purchase a good bass synth...Any suggestions??
