Here is the story:

I was booked last week "through a friend" to play a house set (tonight 9PM) at a large private pool party.

The girl that organizes the event called me today to ask about the outs on my mixer...so we chatted and 5 minutes and a few "what?" later the reality hits me hard; its a hip hop crowd. She only wants a few "techno" songs here and there...

My library contains mybe 100-200 songs from last year...

I NEED YOUR HELP. If anyone can spare a few songs or mixes that are hot atm I will be indefinatly thankfull.

I have until 7:30-8PM MAX to load it up on my notebook

do u have cdj 800's or 1000's? if yeh just get some dre instrumentals and scratch all night long and then check the billbords for top rap songs and stick them in between. Idk where to find dre's intrumentals but im sure there is a place online to get them.

Frankly if I was you I would have told the girl that I couldn't prepare for an all Hip-Hop set on such short notice, and that she'll either have to accept my playlist or hire someone else.

thats exactly how i feel as well. There have been occasions where I was booked for killer events and they asked me to play something other than house or any form of edm. Not to bring up ethics (well I guess i am) but personally, I became a DJ for love of the music, not for anything else and every time situations such as these happen, I'm reminded of this. So I guess its just a matter of opinion.

I have always noticed when I tell people I'm a nightclub dj that they all of a sudden think I'm a mobile dj. I think a lot of people in this hobby have been in the same situation.

I got a phone call once from a family friend asking be to DJ a birthday party and they were insulted when I gave them the number of a good mobile DJ that I know. I had to explain to them that that I don't play the hokey pokey. I tried to explain that you wouldn't have a foot doctor do brain surgery would you? They couldn't grasp the concept of specialization.

So true. That's why its good to have a couple of mobile DJ contacts to help you out in situations like these.
