Come celebrate with us at down at the beach for the Canada Day Long Weekend. Traditionally this has been our most wonderful day, filled with lots of smiling and familiar faces and visitors from out of town. On this monday we’re joined by Keir Worthy from New York City. Keir was down last Canada Day and was so impressed with our gathering that he booked a return trip to join us and share his music collected from his travels as tour manager for Juan Atkins and Theo Parish, godfathers of Detroit techno.
The beach site has lots of trees, so bring a hammock and your lover and pass the time on this lazy Monday afternoon with friends and friends of friends as we groove together to some tasty bouncy beats.

Please bring only what you plan to take back out with you - leave no trace. Pack something warm (it gets cool after dark by the lake) and something to sit on and also something to keep sun off your head. Drink lots of water. Bring something to share.
Canada Day weekend draws big crowds, including families with children, to our parks. Many people will be watching, we encourage you to know that the public consumption of alcohol is not allowed. It’s not difficult to figure out.
And remember to take care of your friends, your neighbours, and what's going on around you. It's what makes Cherry Beach happen smoothly.
Bettina has found us a large number of plastic film canister to use for finished smokes. Please ask us for them and pass them around. Dave and Irving’s backs are aching from all the bending down to pick up butts left behind each weekend. Thanks Bettina!
Directions to Cherry Beach
Take Lakeshore Blvd east of downtown just past Parliament. Turn south down Cherry Street all the way to the end, then go east into the parking lot on your left. At the furthest east of the lot, walk up into the wooded area. If you end up at the lake, you're going the wrong way. Biking to Cherry Beach is easy along the paths beside the lake, a bus route from Union Station goes down there too.
