i like the mc-303... especially because of the bass boost knob on the back of the box. these things can be found cheap, and they have a lot of other sounds too.
the 303 patch in the asr-x pro is good. -more than anything, i love the character and sound quality of the asr-x pro. -that's why i've been a proud asr-x pro owner for about 10 years now.
the mc-909's stock 303 patches are good too. probably cleaner than the old mc-303, but the 909 doesn't have the bass boost knob. -i haven't A-B'ed them yet. i haven't messed w/the 303 patches on the srx cards yet.
for software... the 303 patches on the vintage synth collection that's available for the emulator x/proteus x is pretty good. use in conjuction w/the e-mu filters... oh lordy!
the only vst i know of w/303 patches, is the roland groove synth that comes w/the producer edition of sonar 6. not bad, but the daw thing didn't work out for me, so i threw it way.
