So what do you think about this year's BC releases?? There's been a lot of talk about early stuff on this label (and most of it was positive (deservely), except Holden's TIAW which recieved mixed reviews), but I haven't seen any reactions on last two releases. Some people mentioned them in their monthly charts, but that's it. So what do you think about direction that BC took this year?
IMO, Barcelona was a stronger of the two. Two great neo trancey originals, accompanied with two crazy experimental Holden's tools.
Furry Hat on the other hand is a nice (again very hypnotic and trancy) track, but SPNKR ruined it for me. How can you make such a boring track, knowing that there are so many great things happening in techno these days. Real was much better...

furry hat is a great record when used properly, has that hypnotic groove that dancefloors are crying out for right now
spnkr is a DJ tool at best, personally I like it and I'll probably play it over furry hat just because it adds something to other good to average "DJ-Tool" records

same, & completely agree on superjam. Used it a lot with a few tracks a couple months ago.
I bought "Furry Hat" and honestly feel a bit let down. It sounds very amateur (though Avus is clearly anything but), and I think structurally it's relatively boring. Clearly you could make the argument that like any good Villalobos track, it's up to the DJ to make it good, but I just feel like the record is a pain in the ass to work with.
And +1 to BC being all about the hype and lacking substance - they've got some good releases, and a few brilliant ones, but they haven't had a truly great release in years.

I could maybe agree with you if you were speaking about spnkr, but furry hat is a fucking deep, dark and dirty groover all by itself.
that being said, if bootlegged properly with the shackleton remix it make's a fucking incredible bootleg, but I didn't tell you that
