Promise Cherry Beach Afternoon Soundsystem

Two weekend parties left:
Sunday, August 26
Monday, Labour Day weekend

Recently we moved our location to the sandy beach just east of the
windsurfing club. The regular spot was getting too worn down and dry and we need to preserve it as best as possible.

Some of the best hours at the new spot are from noon til 5 when the sun is directly overhead of the sand beside the water, it's a real,
honest beach experience. So in the interests of people enjoying their lake, sand and sun, and in order to have a few more dj’s play over the summer, we are setting up the soundsystem earlier. Please spread the word and make sure your group knows that the whole afternoon is now open and active.

In the past, a lot of people have actually gone to lie on the beach and then have come to join us in the forest later for the music. This week we invite you to get the best out of your whole afternoon and come down earlier to either bronze in the sun or chill out in the shade on the sand. The music will be awesome and so will the weather.

Recent Setback:
In other, more distressing news, last week ourselves and the whole
Cherry Beach project was taken advantage of and stolen from by an
individual posing as a volunteer at the end of the day. One of our bags was targeted and snatched from right inside our car as other helpers were just a few feet away securing all of our gear. Over $300 dollars of the day's donations went missing as well as $500 of other gear such as spare dj headphones that we keep on hand for the day. This loss is unexpected, quite disheartening and puts the whole weekly project behind financially. Up until now your generosity has maintained all of the expenses associated with hosting these parties properly.

So in light of this, we ask you to make a strong effort to locate the
donation box at the dj booth and help others find it as well. Many
newcomers may not know that these events run on donations and by everyone bearing a small responsibility, the results are great. We will be accepting paypal donations on our website next week on our website as well. On balance, we can only be grateful that over 6 years of regular Sunday events there has only been one incident of this nature. Thank all of yourselves for maintaining that trouble-free spirit that makes these weekends such a joy to be involved in.

We'll be there starting earlier at 2pm to fully enjoy the sun overhead and the downtempo funk of djs Davey, Hans and Mike (kNeptune). Later we'll move into house with George from Diesel and Felix and Gani from milk. And then deep with techno by Noah and Jeff.

Cherry Beach is just along Lakeshore past Parliament. Turn down Cherry Street and follow it to the end. At the roundabout go left, and follow the bike path between the fencing until you hear music near the water.

Biking to Cherry Beach is easy along the paths beside the lake, a bus
route from Union Station goes down there too.

Things to think about: Please bring only what you plan to take back out with you - leave no trace. Pack something warm (it gets cool after dark by the lake) and something to sit on and also something to keep sun off your head. Drink lots of water. Bring something to share.

And remember to take care of your friends, your neighbours, and what's going on around you. It's what makes afternoons at Cherry Beach happen smoothly.
