I have been mixing for about 6 months now, but i want to start producing house/electronic. I have no idea where to start, what programs to use, what i will need, pretty much everything. It would be great to get some advice to get me started.

you shouldnt really be asking others these questions, they can't tell you what you should use, you have to figure that out...cuz youre the only person who will know.

just try demos of
Ableton, FL Studio, or Reason and see how you feel.
they seem to be popular around here.

oh and dont worry about upgrading your computer, and getting monitors or whatever wait until after you figure out what program you want to use (if any).

Start learning to find your own info, because you're going to be doing ALOT of it if you want to become a semi-decent producer.

as beats and beeps said, you should look into trying out those demos and getting a feel for yourself which one you like. they're all good, but personal taste will play a key role in deciding which one you'll actually use.
