Wow! Great pics Drew! Agreed, way more people than TIC 2005.

Giant and Insomniac promoted the hell out of this show. Daft Punk obviously out-drew Tiesto... wonder if that says anything about the current state of trance/progressive dance music...

Lots of empty seats in the stands. If they wanted, I am sure they could had let many more people in. Hell, Monster Massive was way more packed than that in the main area.

Stands were full at Daft Punk (but imagine crowd control was on point that night and you couldn't just get on the floor if you didn't have the right ticket).

Anyhow, looks like a great-sized crowd. Just next time anything is done like this down in LA, need a different venue than the LA Sports Arena. It feels as ghetto in those pics as it does when I'm there.

Well, they were still trying to sell tickets as late as Thursday and I could still buy tickets at TicketMaster as late as Friday and by the looks of all of the open seats in the 3rd level (DP was filled to the top) and wouldn't quite say it was 'sold-out'... They may have said it was sold out to keep promotional momentum going for the current tour, but the open seats don't lie.

Daft Punk has way more commercial recognition then a single dj. Daft Punk is not though of as Trance and its the awesomeness of that show that sells Daft Punk. This was a single dj and it was the biggest gathering by ONE dj so far here in the west coast. The capacity allowence was 15k and it was sold out before hand, there was no seat assignment on the top levels.

I've seen events at the LA Sports Arena stated as 20,000 capacity between the seats/floor (all gen admission) in the past to be sold out, so I think 15,000 is undercutting the actual overall capacity to call it sold out (sold out usually = 1,000 within promoted capacity) to make it seem more impressive.

Wasn't Moster Massive 2006 (plus the house area and outside area) nearly 35,000 people? And don't try to tell me those extra two rooms added 20,000 people.

In the end, no need to hate on any side. If 15,000 was the cutoff point, it's better for everyone because it just means more room to dance. But despite that, I would NOT promote it as being have sold out in the future or make a big deal of it. It's Tiesto, tons and tons of people are going to see the pics and going to say "That's sold out?" This world is full of anal individuals who like to hate, myself included lol, and want to trust how things are promoted vs what they see in evidence.

Anyhow, if you had a great time, awesome. I know tons of people who went. Lots of them to both the SF show and the LA show. The most shocking thing is that I don't know of one person who person who had a better time in LA than in SF. ALl agree the set here was more solid overall, the venue was better, the sound was better, and the production between the two places made no difference (I dunno the overall production down there, just goin by peeps who went to both). Seems like the 2nd hour of Tiesto here was like the most amazing thing ever to so many people since like..>Tiesto or 2000, lol.

In the end, as long as everone had funa dn went to slepe happy who cares overall.
