I take it you have one of the coffin cases?
Reason I'm asking is because I obtained 3 RoadReady cases (2 for CDJs, 1 for mixer) and I had to return one because one corner was missing a rivet and was bashed in- almost as if someone tried to make it fit. How that passed QC, I have no clue.
The other two have about 2-3mm clearance on one of the corners, and will wobble back and forth. I'm just trying to figure out if this is normal, or at least within tolerances for manufacturing. I'm thinking about putting something fairly heavy on it to try to squish it back into shape, but I don't know how much success I'll have with that since the thing is, well, riveted together.

Hmm. I wonder if it's correctable (the not sitting flat). I'm thinking about waiting until I get the replacement, as I want to see if it does indeed sit flat or not. I may keep the two that I have, since it's only about 2-3mm off on one corner.
Another question, though- when you stack the case on the lid, how easily does it slide off? I tried mine and they slide off with very little force, eg. the socket part doesn't really go in all tha tmuch (it's indented and flat, not spherical).

I meant how much force is required to push it off?
Since discrete cases have a smaller mass, obviously it would require more force for a coffin to slide. Since the contact area is pretty small, and the coefficient of friction is pretty small (metal on metal), mine can slide of with not much of a nudge, which is a big concern to me especially if someone actually bumps into it.

All right, so I just received the replacement CDJ case. The box that it came in had seen better days, but otherwise the case was in good condition. No missing rivets, the case sits pretty close to flat (reasonable manufacturing tolerances), and not too much misalignment.
It definitely sits better than the other CDJ (and mixer) case I have. It's missing the hole for the cables at the back, the one where the metal Road Ready plate screws on to cover. Not really a biggie, since I probably won't route the cables through there anyway.
I'm definitely questioning Road Ready's quality control and manufacturing process. It seems like all three of the cases I have weren't built with a lot of care or even simply careful measurement. I would think that some of the raw parts would be cut by/with machines, and would be precise enough to fit without having to force metal pieces out of shape or whatnot.
I wonder how the other case manufacturing companies are in terms of build quality. From what I hear, there aren't very many other companies. Maybe they need some competition before they get too complacent.
