So i moved into a new place and theres some free wireless internet floating around from some dumbass neighbour who hasn't secured the connection, problem is it only works in my front room and id like to use my laptop all over the house.
So my question is; what kind of device do i buy to amplify the signal and how do i configure the device? wireless bridge? access point? ect. ect. thanks in advance cor whores.

wireless repeater or extender is what you want.
if you have a router already and it's a linksys - www.dd-wrt.com and extend the wireless.

So your going out of your way to not just steal wireless... But amplify the signal so other neighbors can steal it also. Your a public servant.
This takes it to a whole new level, what are you going to do when they find out and turn the security on?

just an update, thanks for the help guys.
ended up going with this sweet toy,
its a linksys range expander, a little expensive at $65, but pays for itself after 1 1/2 months of free internet! (setup was a nightmare btw but works great)

yea, but the basement in my house had nothing whatsoever, no connections found...... now its excellent, with nothing hanging outside the laptop
