Tables/Midi Boards

I'm looking to start producing some more music here, but I need some better equipment for my setup. Something that particularly interests me is midi keyboards-the ease of use in setting up chord combonations coupled with inserting song snippets from what i know is basically invaluable--(i play the piano btw)this makes midi keyboards extremely useful.
Basically I am wondering if anyone could give me a small listing of quality/ HIGH quality midi key boards and turn tables? My buds is too bulky to keep around, and i'm not really sure what i'm interested in. Thanks much for the help.

i reccomend a uc-33 midi controller and a novation remote keyboard. both are affordable and used by the midi man (PVD). there are midi keyboards out there with faders, launch buttons, etc, but i think they are too cluttered. and throw in a focusrite saphire interface if you need one.

ps: i dont think you'll need turntables for production

Novation stuff is sweet, for sure. The remote is nice, I'm trying to decide between it and this one for my next midi keyboard:

The MPK feaures true MPC-style drum pads, 49 keys and a bunch of neat features. Between this and the Novation remote, it's a hard call.

I'm also considering the Novation Xiosynth, because it's not only a MIDI controller, but has an integrated synth. I probably wouldn't use the synth much as I like the bunches of VSTs I'm familiar with, but it would allow me to take a single piece of self-contained gear with me and play on it, even if just for practice or to mess around with some friends and get some new ideas. Considering they are not much more expensive than a straight MIDI keyboard, and will still act as a controller, it seems a good value.

I'm currently using an M-Audio Axiom 61 which I do like, but I wouldn't recommend. The build quality of M-Audio MIDI stuff is seriously lacking, and after having to repair my axiom twice I decided to just leave the screws out of it so I can disassemble it easier next time it breaks. fun fun. If you do "invest" in M-audio gear, certainly buy it new and register it so you get warranty coverage, because you are probably going to need it... But you can get more for your money for sure.
