Schiller - Day & Night

Got this CD on "ITunes" last week. Been listening to it everyday. One of Schiller's best CDs since "Voyage" IMO (probably the second best one to that). His last CD "Life" was okay, nothing special. Day & Night has some decent vocal tracks like"Tired of Being Alone" feat Tarja Turunen, "I Saved You" feat Kim Sanders, and "Sleepy Storm" and "What"s Coming" feat Jette von Ruth, "Miles & Miles" and "Falling" both featuring Moya Brennan of Clannad, and "The Smile" with Sarah Brightman, which is better than "I've Seen it All" on "Life". The best instrumental tracks are "Nightflight", "Sunrise", the brilliant duet with Mike Oldfield on guitar called "Morning Dew", and "Berlin Bombay". If you like dreamy, melodic electronic music....good album to get.

Schiller is pretty neat. However alot of their stuff is too cheesy but some stuff is excellent. Such as Schiller - Schiller (Live mix).
Another cool thing is that they release most of their albums as DVDs.

Too many vocal tracks.

Yeah I know, but they aren't bad IMO. Better than on "Life" or some of ATB's work. And cheesy is subjective (unlike what Ishkur thinks) so I personally don't find all of Schiller's work cheesy. The vocal tracks may sound a little pop-like, and essentially I think what he's done is go from trance music (which initially with tracks like Schiller, Ruhe and Das Glockenspiel were) into ethereal synth-pop. I don't put him in the same vane as ATB, DJ Sammy, Lasgo or Ian van Dahl..closer to Delerium and Enigma. But your free to disagree. Would like a little more instrumental tracks..those on "Voyage" were perfect.

Schiller is actually a duo.

Have lost totally contact with them, I am still back in the time when they were spinning ruhe (silence) and dream of you. Always liked the dreamy pace of their tracks, will surely look around to get this album of two years ago, even tough I am not a lover of vocals, but Schiller vocals tracks are usually far from the cheese side.

"Magic Garden" on Voyage has to be one of the most ethereal, dreamy tracks i've ever heard. Coupled with the operatic vocals and the escalating washes of synth and melody...give it an aura of suspense. "Falling" is close on this album....love Moya Brennan's vocals.
