Lyle - Trance Classics

Name of mix: Trance Classics
Length: 60:00
Quality: 192kbps

In keeping with my current nostalgic mood, this one hour session is a homage to my trance roots (with a few new rerubs), to the music that brought me EDM and indeed to trance itself. It is a journey back to beginning, the start of everything for me, and now it's here for you to enjoy!

Tracklist

1.) Humate - Love Stimulation (Paul Van Dyk's Love Mix)
2.) BT - Dreaming (Tiesto Remix)
3.) Rui Da Silva - Touch Me (Original Mix)
4.) Three Drives On A Vinyl - Greece 2000 (Original Mix)
5.) Paul Van Dyk - Words (For Love)
6.) Mauro Picotto - Komodo (Megavoices Remix)
7.) Delerium - Silence (Tiesto's In Search Of Sunrise Remix)
8.) Members Of Mayday - 10 in 01 (Paul Van Dyk Remix)
9.) Agnelli & Nelson - Everyday, Every Moment, Everytime
10.) Jose Amnesia - The Eternal (Thomas Datt Remix)

These are all played to death tunes. I know its a homage to your own roots but still for us listeners. these tunes are the most known and it doesnt matter if you have them played in a different order. They are overplayed. There are loads of trance classics from that era which aren't so obvious. Try to dig deeper. Thanks anyway,

I don't think this is quite the most obvious set of tunes in the world!

Yeah Greece 2000, Silence, 10 in 01 and Everyday are a bit on the obvious side (Greece 2000's still one of my favourite tunes so I'm not gonna complain about that!), but you don't find the rest in many classics mixes... it's not as if it's just For An Angel, Carte Blanche, Cafe Del Mar, Insomnia etc is it?

go out on discogs.com and you'll see that almost every tune in this mix have been on at least 10 compilations.

Yes, but so have most tunes you could call classics...

you are probably true. but as I said. there are bunch of old tunes from this era which are just as good, and better, which aren't played till death.

Well, if I could add my bit - classic is largely a matter of taste. If I didn't really like a certain song from back then, I wouldn't consider it a classic today. It just so happens that alot of EDM followers seem to favour the same slice of nostalgia. And personally, I think just based on principle, I would rather put tunes on that I loved rather than tunes that I just had a passing fancy for. I'm not sure if you get my point but basically I think sacrificing good songs for the sake of just putting in more obscure tracks is a bit dodgy
