Besides me? It was like this
happy hardcore/cheesy trance/psytrance -> "classic" (99-01) trance -> newer ASOT whiteroom style trance -> hard trance (dead genre) -> prog house -> prog breaks -> a bit of D&B -> crazy robot electro minimal stuff that Zabiela plays -> "classic" trance -> stuff that's in my sig

Re: So how many TA's are into house now?
As far as dance music, I had three "stages" I guess:
1. Cheesy trance + prog trance
2. Prog trance / prog house
3. Classic (early '90s) trance + psy / goa + acid techno + tech house + some prog
I've also grown to love lots of other non-dance electronic music, like ambient, chillout, and IDM.
I've never gotten into "house house" (the vocal-centered kind) very much, although there is definitely some good stuff out there.

oh yeah I listened to happy hardcore at around the beginning trance stage and also got into progressive trance as well, but not too deep. and a bit of infected mushroom.
i like soulful house right now cause it's just as uplifting as uplifting trance without a cheesy feeling attached. it's just happy soulful music.

I think the main reason I've never gotten into much of house is that a lot of it is centered around vocals. I like the kind of dance music that can hypnotize me (put me in a "trance" I guess) and most of the time vocals detract from that for me. I know others look at it differently, though, and I do like the occasional house track.

I really can't say I am. I enjoy the good groove maker from time to time, and I certainly have a few choices in my collection, but I can't really find what I'm looking for in any other genre. The heavy melodic aspect of trance has kept me enthralled for several years.

I think how you feel reflects what you listen to. So trance is characterized by euphoria and well "trance". I think that characterizes a need for escapism.

I think that trance is like most other forms of dance music in that it's about creating an atmosphere, losing yourself in the sound, and having a good time. I'd hesitate to read personality traits into musical taste too much. Sure, trance has an element of "escapism," but I don't think it has any more of that than any other music typically played to a club full of people looking for something different from the workaday world.

I like a bit of house, I think it works really well in the clubs and it's just about the sexiest variant of EDM I think. Ain't nothing like grinding to a bit of naughty funk...

I dont really know about house. I love some tunes to death, others are just not for me. It's something I listen to every once in a while, but nothing I have my heart set on and will go out of my way to find the name of a tune if I like it.
