Ableton in the Car

I was just thinking about this.
Ableton djing on a laptop with a car audio adapter.
Good for long rides (with a passenger or more of course.)

Anyone done this yet?

In long car rides I pretty much always take my laptop and a pair of headphones, unless the other person is interested most car head units have aux-in on the front nowdays...

I find that I have to constantly look up at the horizon or else ill get motion sickness though, not just with the laptop but with reading or anything inside the car lol.

I have a life plan to eventually install a twin rackmount CD player in my glovebox. It'd be rude.

Although this might be superceeded by some kind of crazy touch screen and an appropriate bit of DJ software.

closest I've come is mixing a set in traktor on the laptop, hooked up to the stereo through the aux input. Ate up a couple of hours on an 11 hr drive from FL->TX

As a concept to have fun its kind of cool, but just don't let anyone see you. After a lonnnnng period of adaptation, people stopped nagging you Abbleton guys about doing less. (i know, i know i'm not saying this but you know what i mean.) Now that it isn't cool to hate on it anymore you are going to mix and drive? God you guys would be asking for it. Enough people want to be DJ's as is, next thing you know it will also balance checkbooks and do laundry. (Unfotunately everone will still be playing Sammim - Heater)

I have long been thinking about having a fold out dual rackmount cd player with a small mixer that folds out of the glovebox. I remember talking at length to Adam South/West about this when we were driving up to PVD once....4 years ago or so ago.

Problem is I don't have enough DJ friends to ride along and dj, so it'd never get used...that's the only reason I haven't implemented it.
