BlackBerry feedback...

My PDA phone has been dropped for the last time and I have to purchase a new one this week. I want the iPhone but despite my boss owning one and raving about it, I can't afford paying $600 for it.

So, I'm either buying the BlackBerry Curve or BlackBerry 8800. Anyone own either of these or have feedback/suggestions?

Curve:

8800:

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

If you want somehting for buisness do not get the Iphone. the key board on that is absolute crap.

I think the only differnce between the Curve and the 8800 is the curve has a camera.

Either way Blackberry is the way to go.

isn't RIM(makers of blackberry) in some huge copyright lawsuit right now which could potentially ruin/discontinue the product? isn't that why their stock dropped so much in the last year

RIM settled last year with NTP, so they are all set.

8800 - GPS
8300 (Curve) - no GPS, but 2MP camera and standard headset jack
8820 - GPS + Wifi, coming out 9/15, same form factor as 8800

I prefer the Curve over the 8800 due to the layout of the keyboard. The 8800 is a good choice if you work in places that don't allow cameras into the facility.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'm definitely going to go with BlackBerry Curve.

The 8800 has a built-in GPS and a slightly better battery but overall the Curve I've read is much much better, especially with the keyboard. Also I tried the keyboard on my boss' iPhone and found that typing emails took longer then an external qwerty keyboard like on the BlackBerry.

I read up on that and apparently that was 2006 and although it held up RIM production I believe they settled and are functioning just fine. The Curve in fact was just released like 2-3 months ago.

Thanks a lot. This really helps my decision. I think the Curve is the way to go. And even though I'm locked in a contract I can get the Curve for $299 with my company's AT&T business account.

I hate the curve. Too small to type with Suretype. I had that thing for literally an hour before i got rid of it. I never hated a phone as much as that one in my life. I would probably wait for the 8820.

shit, so hard to choose between curve vs 8800!

i did like the 8800 at first but then when i heard the buttons were too close to each other, making it hard to type, and that it had no camera i assumed the Curve was an easy choice

Damn, after some research I see the Curve 8310 coming to AT&T in 3 weeks and the 8820 coming out shortly after.

Fuck I need find a way to wait till the end of September before buying......

I have a spare 8800 if you really need something to hold you over.

what provider do you have? i don't know about the others, but i know for sprint if you get the blackberry they tack another $30-40 extra monthly for a "blackberry plan." Also, don't you need a monthly gps subscription to use the built-in gps? if that's the case you may want to look for a bluetooth receiver, those can be had for $60-70+

If you think the buttons on the 8800 are too close together... its about 10X worse on the curve. And the "Learning" for spelling blows chunks.
