cubase - just crashed- location of temp files??

hey all cubase users.

i was just workin on a track and it was something i though might be going somewhere. cubase just crashed and is now in 'not responding' mode. if i click the 'x' in the top right corner to close it i do not get the option to save.

cubase is still opened on my computer and i was wondering if anyone knows where cubase's temp folder is? i bet all the data is somewhere on my pc and will only dissapear when i close cubase. is this true? and if so, where can i find the midi data in particular????

rich

Usually when this happens I can just End Task Cubase, then re-open it. You'll lose anything you did not save UNLESS you have Auto-Save turned on. If you do, then when you open the project back up, it'll see that there is a more recent backup and ask if you want to open the backup instead.

If you do not have Auto-Save turned on, I highly recommend turning it on. Set it to Auto-Save interval 30 mins and keep at least 5 backups.

That should cover you.

Also, you may want to reboot after the End Task, before you re-open Cubase. I always do this just to clear out any garbage thAt may be left in momory after the End Task.

Auto Save is on the Cubase .cpr file, which will contain all the data in the project minus the actual audio files and plugin .dll's.

Its essentially the same as saving a copy of your .cpr file, except it does it automatically.

You'll find Auto Save under Preferences | General.

If it was a good melody you should be able to remember at least some of it..I never forget a melody I have made if it stands out..I even whistle melodies I come up with when I'm not at my computer on to my phone voice recorder and then try it out back at home.

it was one of those weired melodies that was made on the piano roll. so it was not pre thought out. managed to get it close by using 'print scrn' and zooming into the image a bit..
