A few questions for the owners of the Virus Ti
It's finally time. I'm getting one
Unfortunately, there's no place here to try one out, so I'm kinda buying blind. I know the sound is great, but a few technical details still remain unclear:
1. As far as I know, the usb link works for only 2 stereo outputs, right? so how do I get the 3rd one in? can I use spdif? Is there another way?
The thing is..I have an E-mu 1212m soundcard which has only one analog stereo in (which I'd rather not use as it's reserved for mixer input). The card also has spdif and optical in. The optical input would work perfectly as the card's software mixer allows me to add up to 3 stereo digital in's through it and route them into cubase. And up untill recently I thought the same aplied to spdif as it's also digital (as virus has spdif out). But now I'm not so sure. It appears (correct me if I'm wrong) that spdif is a single channel interface, so to speak.
The whole point is to use the Ti plugin in cubase and have all of the virus outputs (3 stereo, as far as I know) routed (somehow) into the program using this soundcard effectively making bouncing (my worst nightmare) unnecesary most of the time. It's actually the main thing that I love about the virus, being a longtime software user. Can this be done? And how?
2. Are all effects multitimbral?
3. I've heard that the 80 voices is far from the truth. What's the average voice count? how many channels do you manage to use at the same time without loosing voices? I know there is no rule, but give some figure to work with
Thanks in advance.
