just because you dont agree with my opinion doesn't mean its wrong... the real winner in all of these remix competitions is the original composer/record label.. they get so many remixes done for them and the good ones that are released they pay a very minimal fee (contest prize) which is usually a lot less than one would pay to get a known artist to remix the said song.

I think you overestimate how much money is being made in music these days. Compared to the ammount of time & work put in a track, nearly every producers earns shit. Except from the really huge ones.

Especially with the digital only releases which are becoming more regular these days. Lots of big labels are stoppid with vinyl releases. Blackhole for instance. Digital sales royalties suck. It's a fact.

And if there's a vinyl coming up than you might make a bit more money. Nothing special though.

On the other hand, these things are good publicity for an unknown artist, providing the remix contest results are announced properly and the promo stage is done well. Could just give the artist that push in the back he needed to get it on.

Also, launching a remix contest takes some time. Seriously judging remixes even more. Time = Money. The time invested maybe even worth more than paying a remixer for the b-side, it really does happen.
There is nothing bad about a remix contest imo.

No there is nothing wrong with them, i enjoy entering them as well.. i know that EDM producers don't nearly make as much as other music artist but i still think in the end the original composer is the real winner.

how much you want to make a bet the label makes more money on selling the parts then it does on the release : P that's the only part that bugs me

I think mostly those that really want a specific sample badly, or those that aren't very good producers to start with buy those sample packs .
