The Field: From here we go sublime
Didn't see a thread about this album...Which is wierd because according to metacritic its the best album of 2007 thus far (inclusive of all genres...) and its a minimal tech album
I think its an incredible.
Its minimal tech beats with instrumentation provided by micro samples of songs...Or full samples warbled by fx. Its very melodic, almost trance-like at some points, but without any buildups or beat-dropping.

Re: The Field: From here we go sublime
We already discussed about this album, but probably in some other thread...
I don't really like it. Sun & Ice EP was great because it offered a different and fresh sound, but this album doesn't really offer anything new and exciting. All tracks are made on the same concept, and it sounds kinda boring after awhile. So if you want to hear cool music (+ great Istedgade) just buy Sun & Ice EP
And why people think this is trance?

I know its not what trance is today. Although some tracks do bear resemblance to the much older trance songs... With the lack of beat dropouts and buildups, and chords changing over a longer course of time.

Depending on who you talk to, it's either pure brilliance or over-rated tosh. I've only heard snippets, and they didn't really grab me but I'll withhold judgement until I hear the full thing.

I've listened to the album once, i thought it was really good. The use of samples is really effective, it's simple, minimal and the repeating samples and the bassline work together creating music that is very emotional in it's simplicity.
I'm sure i will like it even more next time i listen to it.

I've only listened to the samples, but I thought it sounded pretty dreadful.

Not exacly dancefloor material on this one, most of it anyways. But for homelistening I find this rather excellent as in all it's simplicity it really moves me.
