Exclamation mezzir needs a car!

yeah...still haven't found one, and i got two options presented to me right now:

1: 96 regular old Corolla, like 108k miles-ish, decent condition and whatnot, just had it checked out by my local shop and the brakes needed some work and they're working on it (whether or not i buy it). Seller was originally talking about selling for $2000 but then when he printed out flyers and put em up the asking price was $2900. Still no word on that, but aside from the brakes which are gonna be fixed everything's in working order. For probably $2500ish ideally.

2: 99 Cavalier 2 door Convertible, 129k miles, dude says its in good condition, newish tires, some recent work but he says everything should be great not, never been in an accident or anything. Haven't had it checked out by my shop but I will next week most likely. This one's only $1700.

Idk Corolla will probably last, but he's asking a shitload more than i originally was expecting to pay. Cavalier hasn't been checked out and probably would have a few more problems than the corolla, but costs a shitload less.

Any opinions?

My fiancee is sporting a 1986 camry for the time being. Purrs like a kitten, runs smooth and with no problems.. looks like a beater.

In my experience (especially for driving a lexus/toyota):

Toyota > Chevy

In most cases:

Most Import > American Cars (trucks are a different story)

dont buy either. find a different one. the corolla is way to expensive and the cavalier is...well...a domestic.

seriously. you can easily find something that will suit you better. not that hard. check craigslist, autotrader, cars.com, the local paper, and also check ebay (but of course only deal locally with that).

how much do you want to spend?

lookin to spend 2k tops, ideally
and trust me, i've been checking fucking everywhere around here :/

and also i know imports are better, but with the luck i have, in the past having an import meant repairs costed more, seriously no domestics? cause everyone i know who's ever had a 94-99 chevy hasn't had any problems at all

yeah pretty much lol.
a third option came up, but its a looooooong shot. good friend of mine moved to chicago this fall for school and's gonna be there till...well who knows. He's got a car parked here, he cut the insurance and whatnot and he's not using it but in a year or so he's gonna want it again so if he can convince his grandma that she doesn't need a car and buy hers (nicer car than his) then he'll sell me his at a good price. plus i know and like that car, i drove across the US in it

but yeah. fux

dude, I had a Toyota Corolla that I rode, until it was time to expand..
Ask this guy if the transmission has been replaced or re-built, that RARELY happens on a Corolla..
it may be a few bucks more, but in the long run, you'll be glad you got it
