the last 2 days I spent in Miami at homestead speedway with the company I work for, Audi. Some of you may know that Audi has a new car out now called the R8 and a new car called the S5 out now as well. I was at the speedway to do a ride and drive for the S5 (great car BTW)when we all got surprised that they would take each one of us on the track in a R8 This car is nuts!! we were doing 100MPH drifts and in the vid you see us passing a line of S5's with a RS4 in the lead. During the passing of those cars we hit over 140MPH. This is my vid from the passenger seat.
Yes i know i laugh like a little bitch but hey i was giddy during this.

same day here I am racing a TT in a timed race. I had 2 hot warm up laps and learned the track but during the race they mad us turn off the ESP (stabilization control) and the car drove completely different. I almost lost it 2 separate times.

Course it does, it firms up the suspension on the side that's under the most load when cornering, you turn the traction control off for the serious fun.
I'm glad I don't pay for your clutch!

the TT's were all Autos. The sticks we drove were the RS4, S5 and R8
BTW i know how ESP works I sell Audi's but I wasnt expecting such a dramatic difference and i was wrong.

Ah, so stall converter abuse, even more expensive!
I've had a go of a couple of cars with stability control, a Mitsubishi, a Toyota and a Mercedes and I've still got mixed feelings on it. It'll stop an average driver crashing a road car as much under normal conditions but it does tend to be fairly invasive on a track in terms of controlling things that you'd normally be doing yourself reacting to the cars dynamics.
I need to get myself to another track day sometime
