Review: Eric Prydz @ Club Heaven (Ottawa)
'Just got back from a brief two-hour set dropped at a crammed Club Heaven here in O-town. Unfortunately, the first 30 mins of his set was missed, and that was unfortunate because I have the feeling that was the better part of it. Club Heaven's headliner's have spun from 1-430 in the past.. this one began at roughly 12:45 and ended two hours later.
Prydz was dropping some delicious tech house, electro, good mixing but I remember one transition that was butchered, track was too loud and wasn't mixed well with the previous one.. he's human I guess. Behind the decks, he seems rather humble and into his craft, rather Digweed-ish. I have no problems with that, personally.
Tranceheads were probably pleased with the second half of his set.. basically all trance, tech trance and hands in the air sort of stuff. Maybe it's because he was in Ottawa?
In any case, huge pops were given from the enthusiastic crowd for "Proper Education", "Sweet Dreams" and that Timbaland track (without the cheezy vocals, of course) but thankfully not too much MOS stuff. He also dropped "Remember", a super long break in there. If you're a househead, you'd be foolish not to go to Black and Blue instead, as I didn't find his sound to be wholly different than our resident here, even. Maybe that's the sucky part of producing so many tracks that are being played by so many. And maybe he'll do it up differently in Montreal, like many of the djs I've seen here do.
vibe 9/10 - maybe even busier than SVD's Canada Day set
music 7.5/10 - matter of taste I guess..
sound 4/10 - back bars need speakers.. those of you who have Neil so far up your ass should not be afraid to mention that on here

Once I took a piss in front of everybody at Stereo. Put the garbage under the mixer, and did it right there while people were dancing and screaming. people thought I was playing with the mixer but I was playing with my zizi. |
