Noam Chomsky - On US Global Domination & War on Terror

***Skip the first 5 minutes, it's just an introduction***

@ Harvard University

Listen to this lecture by world-renowned thinker Noam Chomsky, who discusses the US propaganda machine, foreign, as well as domestic policy.

I especially love the quote by Winston Churchill, "THe power of a government to inprison its citizens without charge indefinately is the basis for all totalitarian regimes, whether nazi or communist."

Guess what Bush has done, yep, that's right, under executive order, American citizens can be put away without habeus corpus. The neocons are drooling at the mouth for another September 11!!

I own like 6 books by Noam Chomsky. Brilliant man. Currently reading his Failed States book, when I can, in between college homework

Awesome. The man has a gift of totally blocking out the propaganda machine of the US and seeing it for what it really is. Television is a box of propaganda and most don't even realize it. Nothing wrong with watching television, but people's opinions are being based on television, and as we know, just a few corporations own the television curcuit. Compare TV channel ownership to that of books, newspapers, and academic media (lectures, documentaries, dissertations, etc). TV is by far the WORST form of media to gauge world events. Good for watching world events, horrible for understanding world events.

I wrote Chomsky off back when I was a Bushbot in 2000-2002, even though I never read his stuff. I just knew he was against Dubya and got the impression he was "blaming America' for 9/11...when in reality he was simply explaining the situation like Ron Paul is doing today.

Now that I've learned a bit and morphed into an hardcore anti-neocon, I may have to pick up a few of Chomsky's books.

Any recommendations for a noob?

I love the Failed States book so far. Though the first one I read from him, Necessary Illusions, really turned me off from TV and mass media, and opened my eyes to the unknown conflicts and the world issues more than ever. The one about world domination agenda and double standards, read Hegemony Or Survival.

Yeah, Chmosky knows his stuff. It's always funny when pundits try to argue against Chomsky. They never seem to be able to dispute his facts so instead there are a lot of attacks on his character.

That seems like a very popular tactic of the neocons, on this board, and against the likes of Noam and anti-IRS folks.
