Getting through the gig.

So yeah just wondering, have you guys ever gad a set or something, where it was going fine, crowd liked it an all, nothing was going wrong, but you yourself were not into or something, and just kinda wished there was an auto dj button or you could just unplug everything and take like a 10 minutes break or something.

haha yeah.

one time I threw a party which got 500 people the first time and was a great success, and then I tried to throw it again and barely anyone besides friends showed up. I definitely would have liked to fast foward that night. Club owner giving us dirty looks, losing money on renting a venue, etc is not fun. Also the worrying about turnout made it very difficult to concentrate and get into the music, especially since I had just begun deejaying basically.

I can think of other times where I have been booked to play a party with the expectation that I will play top 40 or something. I don´t play top 40, and I always make this clear to clients, unless the price is very right. As it was though I played relatively commercial music which was more understandable for the crowd, but very boring for me. You kind of have to act the part too when people are enjoying the music, so you kind of feel like a whore

not that i´ve ever been a male prostitute

^hahahahahaha

And yes, i have been..

Anyways, when i walk up to the decks for a full crowd, or a shit crowd.
I'm always trying new things. I get extremely bored behind the decks, especially when im spinning trance.
so i make quick mixes, rape the mixer's effects and generally have a good time.
If the track is really long, i'll sometimes go down to the dancing crowd and doe-see-doe everyone.
it gets them pumped up even more and then run back when im ready to mix.

You can have a lot of fun with the crowd and they'll accept you as long as you're pumping out good stuff, you know how to mix.

And i've never seen someone boo the hampster dance at the end of one of my sets even though pretty much everyone hates that track.

Ive wanted the set to end before. Everything was going well too. Just tired from the day job and was running a fever.

if it was 10 people you were playing for.. yes.

if it was 100 people..

I'd boo the shit out of you.

Dude, isnt djing a way to get out of reality? everytime i get on the decks at a party, even if i had a shit day. I'm still giving it my all and getting lost in the music.
