Read This! Help me decide on my first cartidges ...

Greets,

Soooo.. Finally, I am about to get a set of tables.

Need some cartridges, of course. I'd like something decent - Sounds good, wont wear out easy (and wont wear out my vynil quickly), and is hard to skip. Without spending too much $$ .. hehe

Right now, I'm looking at the M44G fairly seriously - they are inexpensive, and the M447 has a great rep - any input on these?

Otherwise.. What would you do if you wanted a good cartidge without spending too much $$, and it was going to be the first cartridge you ever really used?

TIA!

I have the Shure M44G carts, and they are freaking awesome.

I used to have the SK502 Craze carts but they skip too much.

These shure carts will not disappoint you. The sound is so much superior to other carts AND it dont skip. I never knew that carts make THAT much of a difference in playing a record until I used the shures.

If i were you and since you're not going into specifically turntablism, get the M44Gs. The m447 are for turntablists. I skratch AND mix trance/hip hop so I opted for the M44G because I needed clearer sounds over the thumping bass.

I wouldn't spend too much, you'll end up wrecking your first set anyway.

Not if you're careful. Never assume you're going to wreck something until it has already happened.
