iTs for the unintelligent user because you get some sort of a portal everytime u login. U dont need to go through the www. Booting you off can be the only reason, i mean c'mon paying 22 bucks for 56k is bad enough, but booting you off? Also paying 22 bucks to have popups come up everytime you login? wtf is that!! Its for unintelligent people because teh email is so easy to use, i mean a regular pop3 mail account isnt that hard to setup.

i know i get the same thing....but you know what i have AOL as an extra...
i have Cable internet access ($45/month) and i pay AOL $14.95/month to use there services.....my reason...cuz all my friends have it...the Email is easy and if my computer goes down my email and contact(s) will still be up on there server...not so with having your Outlook go down

i know my internets fast...the pop up ads dont really bother me..u just hit the space bar and it disapears

ehh...ive only been booted off like maybe once.....and it's not like i had to call up again..because im not on dialup..it takes me less than 1-2 seconds to log back in

AOL is silly because it targets itself at newbs and sounds really unintelligent to those who arn't. In Australia they just had a radio commercial advertising their "NEW INSTANT MESSAGING SERVICE! that's "TOTALLY F R E E !!!!!" and "ITS LIKE TELEPHONE, but BETTER!"

I'm like OMG, like telephone BUT BETTER, AND its free? No way! I mean i've been paying HEAPS of money to use ICQ and all..

Plus they have some wierd (and annoying) way that you use the internet right? Even the Tranceaddict Verification Email you get when yo u register has a special link for AOL users.

MAKE good coasters? They ARE good coasters! I just don't get why do people pay USD $23.95/ month JUST for a dialup connection! They all say "It's worth it". I have ONLY the Instant Messenger and quite frankly, that's all I think most people use on there anyway. PLUS, Yahoo is easier for searching than AOL. AOL is geared TOO much to the typical American family who knows NOT A THING about computers and just has it because it's "easy to use and safe for their children". Oh please, why should a parent keep their child away from something that their going to learn in the near future anyway? Isn't it dumb? We get AOL CDs mailed to us every few days and we're sick of it! They're putting money out to make even their CDs attractive by using DVD cases, etc. Well, they're not getting any money from me!!! I pay USD $9.95/ month for 56 K dialup (http://www.wt.net/) and that SHOULD be the limit now for dialup prices but NOOOOOOOO, AOL has to charge $23.95/month! People say to me: "but I play Checkers, Chess, and Chat with my friends for hours"
I'm pretty sure that there are other places to do this but, THEY JUST DON'T WANT TO DO THEIR HOMEWORK AND FIND THEM!
Something else I want to discuss: Covering up your tracks:
You know of the programme called "Evidence Eliminator"? It's supposed to eliminate unwanted Internet browsing mater, useage logs, etc. Well, there's NO way to get rid of AOL evidence fully! Only Instant Messenger conversations! E-mail is done through their servers! That means that they can view YOUR private messages and EVERYTHING ELSE you do on AOL! Really, all of this info is stored ONE file that CAN'T be erased through EE because it contains EVERYTHING (like dialup numbers, settings that need to exist for proper functionality, etc). So, they only way to be safe with your PC is to DITCH AOL! After you ditch it, THEN erase the file. But, sice people don't want to leave AOL, that's where the conflicts begin. AOL works for the US Gov't and FBI and that means that if they want something from AOL, they'll get it. And that means ANYTHING, info, passwords, private info, etc.
I think there is a website dedicated to how much AOL SUCKS. It's called either www.aolsucks.org , www.aol-sucks.org , etc.

Well, I guess I'm going to wrap this up for now so, I'm glad you read all this info. I hope it made you think twice about AOL!!!
BYE!!!!

AOL is for losers and computer-illiterate people.

It's also for stupid parents (and there are many of those, unfortunately) who want to "protect their children from the dangers of the Web" and therefore buy into the whole "parental controls" shit. I hate those Puritan assholes bitterly

WTF??!?!

what kind of reason is that? Billions of flies lay their eggs in crap? do you?

I mean, just because 'all the other idiots are doing it' doesn't mean you have to!!!

I am sorry, but my addresses are saved on the server too (pine) and I have no problems using that.. and gees' how can you put $$ up AOL's butt for pretty much NO SERVICE?? For $20/ mo I will freaking cram the e-mail service up yours' till you don't want anymore.. I mean, you can pay for hotmail as well, they store your contacts, or get some free e-mail account.. gees

AOL sucks, if you do not get why, then i think it is just fair that you are stuck with it. The problem is that there are too many dumb people out there and that is how companies make $$$
