This guy has so much talent, everyone of his products/remixes are flawless, whatever he touches he turns it into gold. He's redefining trance as we know it. What are your opinions? I'd love to hear from anyone who dislikes his style but is a trance fan. It's a shame though, such talent as this is never fully appreciated in any DJ Poll as he doesn't have a well advertised live show with a large audience. Perhaps in the future this will change

even though I have kind of stopped listening to that style of trance, I usually always like Daniel Kandi. Nova is amazing, Make Me Believe is a good one too.

Erm... how? Nothing against him here, but he hasn't done anything especially unique in his productions. I'm not a fan of his tracks at all really; they all sound like they're based on the same sort of rehashed formula.

seems sound technically in his productions but yeah. lots of rehashing fanny trance that isn't very original at all

There's a HUGE difference between carrying on the standard uplifting trance style in a positive way, and REDEFINING it. His productions are HARDLY original. That isn't to say that I don't find most of his productions to be solid for what they are, and for the most part listenable. You don't HAVE to be original to be good either. Just as long as you make the best of whatever it is that you do.

Achieving total originality is almost impossible now anyway, lol.

I wouldn't say "rehashed formula". It's just his own style... and usually it's pretty good.

What happened to Tiesto, Paul van Dyk, Markus Schulz, Gabriel & Dresden when they changed their "musical formula" ? They turned to crap imo, a successful artist will always keep their signature sounds in each of their productions. Think of it as if a painter such as Monet totally changed their style and began using completely different painting strokes. Same goes with music. Kandi in my opinion is successful because he doesn't stray too far from his own musical boundaries.

I liked Child, cant say Ive been over enamoured with his other stuff. Its well put together, but it does seem to follow the same formula quite closely.

Hmmm, not quite. If you listen to older Van Dyk yes you could almost immediately know that it was a Van Dyk track, but there was still some variation on that theme. Columbia and Avenue are very different tracks to say Another Way or Tell Me Why, but no less obvious PvD productions.

I think what people are saying about Mr Kandi here, and Im inclined to agree, is that most of his stuff follows a very similar formula to Child. Now Im not going to bang on about this being a bad thing, he can make what he wants to, but to say he's redifing the trance scene is perhaps a tad too far.
