Well it was more like 15 and half hours (VA landed 30 minutes early!) but due to airport procedures and transportation from JFK to the city it self it was really only 12 hours Since not many check out the New York forum (thread here: http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=442609) here's my review for the night:
Was going to wait until I got home to post a review but heres a quick one since I'm at work
Got to Avalon pretty much at 11PM and the line was just forming but the club wouldn't be open until for another 15-20 minutes. Just waiting in line gave me the impression that the crowd was not here for VD, BT or J00F My friend and I were very undressed too compared to everyone else (shirt w/ a sweater and jeans) so we got worried about getting in plus we had our backpack (we were leaving after J00F directly to JFK and back to SF). Line finally started moving and got in about 5 minutes later. Friend couldn't bring in her prescription medicine even though it was hers! It got worked out later in the night thanks to Mike (massivenyc) and Matt or was it Mark? (promoter for Avalon (and Sonar?) and I never asked you for your TA name). THANKS AGAIN!
Overall I liked the club, massive multi-room and sound was good. Crowd and lighting is another issue
Second time checking out VD and first time getting the chance to see him open. It was really a good opening! Awesome track selection and brought it down a bit right before BT got on. I hope it got recorded like last time at Rebel BT got on and the crowd just went nuts! Never seen BT before and thought he would play a bit more mellow but played a lot of great tracks I didn't expect him too, at least for the first half. Even played deadmau5 Didn't feel the second part of his set that much and the way he ended was rude in my opinion as JF barley arrived and didn't even know he was going on right away Maybe BT thought he was closing Anyway after 1 minute of zero music and crowd leaving, BT dropped one of his productions and did the same ending effects on the mixer, not very creative IMO
JF got on and played progressive psy rather than bangers (I know Rich (lex400sc) wanted John to play like this at Love Fest as he had an early time slot and was on before G&D) which was a nice change from the previous times I've seen him but the crowd did not appreciate it and kept leaving Maybe if he started with something more banging a bit more of the crowd would of stayed. I told my friend maybe J00F should of started with his and Wizzy Noise remix of Cydonia as thats a poppy track that would kept the crowds attention. At the end of the night there were only about a dozen of us dancing so it felt a bit more personal.
During John's set, he spots me and was surprised to see me So after his set he came down to greet me and my friend. He felt a bit bad about us making it out and the crowd not being so great as we've seen him before in SF and LA but let him know that it was fine as it was SONARs second gig? plus it was a free flight anyway Chatted with him for a bit while he took photos with fans said good bye. Then while trying to get my friends medicine outside the club, John shows up again waiting for his ride and we start chatting again
My friend and I w/ John. I like John's name for my shirt JF design that my friend is wearing - SAN FRAN J00F shirt rather than TA J00F shirt
I don't know but I saw him in line and was there until the end! one of the only cool people there

Virgin America! JF's favorite airline is Virgin Atlantic but it doesn't have the same lighting as Virgin America who he has yet to fly with too. Also when the plane landed back at SFO, the background music happened to be BT - Dreaming

Gilbert,
Glad to hear that everything worked out great with your NYC trip. I totally forgot about that trip being last weekend. I was waiting for you to post some pics from SF last weekend but never saw them. No wonder
Being away from the Bay myself, I really rely on you pics to tell me the story back home. I told you this before "I really appreciate your great work with your pics". Again, you did a great job telling us about NYC this time around. See back in the Bay soon!

thanks for the review and pics gilbert!!! always a great wrap up of your outings. i would have loved to have made the weekend trip first friday night to atlanta to see joof and lawrence together then up to NY to see joof and victor. but i had to settle for 2 nights of sander k. and lee burridge lol, not a bad way to spend the weekend. victor texted me during joof's set to let me know he was on while sander was just getting on at avalon! he said he had a great set, of course you know but i'm kinda biased, joof being my favorite and all
