What would you change on Rukes.com?

(PS: If you use beatport, buy your stuff through my banner on rukes.com

Going to re-do the site next year to tighten it up.

For starters, here's what I have planned:

Mobile/Non-Flash site. The default will still be the flash, but I will add a low-res option. Non-flash users who can't upgrade (mobile, console, etc...) will automatically go to the low-res one.

Search box. Type in a DJ name, get a list of all the galleries I have with that DJ.

Real RSS feed on the main page.

A more streamlined interface. Better scroll bars on the side, etc...

Anyone have any other suggestions?

I would say widen the main page. It looks too narrow. If you make it wider, maybe you can make the font a little bigger? I know since its flash it might hard to do. It would be sweet if you had a logo in the background to take away from the pure blackness.

Your site still looks sweet though!

How is that lame? Considering its targeted for the specific DJ and also in a spot where there was a blank space before...what's the difference?

i would add a flash PACMAN window to it... because sometimes we just have to play pacman.

also, a ticker showing stock market activity along with a counter that adds up how many times TA's say "O RLY?". That would be pretty rad.

the eyes are used to seeing nothing but pictures on the gallery pages. i kind of got the same feeling when i first saw the banner on the page. i think u have to position it in a better location, or make a layout that fits the banner. or its just the fact that our eyes have gotten used to the layout and not used to seeing banner.

as for design i think first thing you should consider is change the background color. redesign the whole design (you can make it larger). all the other things you noted like search engine are great imo.

Yeah, I am planning on making it a bit larger, but keeping the current size for the mobile/no flash people.

Where would you suggest I put the banner? Should I center it more? Not sure where I could really fit it in...

for now on your main page you can have it all the way at the bottom of the page (maybe u need to use a script like valign). the biggest problem i think is that its standing out too much which ruins the look of your page even if it increases the banner hits. the main reason its standing out too much is because of your page color. if you change your background color it will look much better. u can tell this layout wasnt made for banners so for the next layout make sure you accomodate a space and style where you can place the banner.

as for the banner on the gallery page, i think you should place it center at the bottom while leaving a little space between the shot thumbnails and the banner.

Yeah, the current site isn't really designed for ads, so the next one will be. I just threw the banner up
