Wow, the moment I put them on I listened to Daft Punk - Digital Love and carried a smile all the way home.

Just want to say thank you for the pointing me in the right direction! I'm hearing crap in my mixes that are kinda embarrassing

p.s.HAHAH at the bass flick thing, this is incredible

p.s.s. everything sounds so damn punchy and juicy!!

I came on here asking about headphone monitors, and almost everyone said AKG's heh

Just wait until they're completely burned in.
They're gonna sound even better.
If you don't want to wait, just put an album on repeat and turn the volume up to a reasonably loud level (not too loud though!) and leave them playing overnight for a few nights.

I thought mine were broke when I first got them. They sounded very weird. I don't know if I just got used to them or burn in changed the sound dramatically but after a couple of days it was fine.
Unfortunately the left and right speakers have different frequency responses which makes some tracks sound panned a bit to the right. Left side has more bass, right more mid/highs.
Apart from that they're pretty good. I wonder how much better top of the line headphones/monitors are though. Somebody who has much more expensive equipment may think K 240Ss are rubbish.

Hey I was just mastering my track and I noticed that I have a bit more bass to the left in my mix? Probably just my mixdown...

Bass flick thing? There was a thread a bit ago where someone flicked the top tubular belt and created a phat ass bass sound. Try flicking it and hear for yourself haha!

What the hell is burning in?? :S!!

I believe you mean this thread (probably the one this is following up):
When you want to record a sound (humorous)

Yeah, I'm the one who brought up that flickering nonesense. I've been trying to be the TA-class-clown for the past month and it hasn't been working.

They are indeed awesome headphones. I assume that "burning in" means that you've gotten use to how they sound and your mind has a clearer picture of the sonic spectrum that they represent (just a guess). When I first wore my AKGs, the sound was crisp, but sounded more muffed than my previous phones. Once I realized the difference, the listening quality was incredible!

Burn in is the drivers changing shape and loosening up when they are first used. Some people think this is a myth or a mostly placebo based effect. I'm not 100% sure, but I would tend to disagree.

It's definately not a myth. Atleast not with my Alesis monitor's tweeters. They were horribly harsh in the first couple of days. It was unbearable to even be in the same room.
