Will H - Travels of a Solar Flare [smooth house]

Have a listen at my latest mix. It's a blend of smooth house. I originally was going for more of a "cool island breezey" feel to it...but then with the added material, it changed the theme pretty dramatically.

now, I can picture traveling through space - from the Sun to the Earth....from that first little blast of Solar Energy all the way to an Auroral Explosion in our atmosphere. Last few tracks were changed to keep it more of a house chill theme to it. and TA doesn't let you change the thread title after so long - so really no "tech" parts to it.

Reagrdless, chill out, relax, and take a journy filled with grooviness and bass.

God Damn i'm doing alot of reviews today. First i was a bit pissed..(ok not really pissed but a bit miffed.) This set is not Tech house at all. (I know that is my go to genre I would give it a more Trance/Prog with hints of Tribal and Funk elements.) That being said i listened to the whole thing! (You know i had trouble with the last one. You did a good job Will, and this would be the kind of set best suited for entertaining company and having play in the background during a cozy dinner. Very melodic, at times sexy...way more Jay friendly than the other one. A few minor "complaints"...just my 2 cents, but i would love to hear more Eq mixing. The mixing was good, but i would have preferred the first transition and a few others to have lingering elements of the last track.(just my opinion by no means is the mixing bad.) Everything flows good and i enjoyed the latter part of the set the most. I am guessing you are using ableton (nothing wrong with that), and i found that the track around 23 minutes sounded weird at times. (could be warping issues.) Keep it up Will! the more you move away from straight up trance..the more i'll be likely to enjoy it. (now you need a bitch for your Trance pad to get wet and romantic over this stuff)

J

ps i found the theme a little "gay" at first, but after listening it deffo compliments the beats.

well thanks AlleN F . i guess as far as 'genre' placing, i didn't really want to put 'tech' in there, but there were some places where i thought that was the closest i could place it to. i guess i never thought of "tribal" or "funk" to use either. wanted to stay away from the trance thing, because i thought it was too slow for that. anyways, thanks a lot for the listen (regardless of it not being really your thing). much appreciated!

made a few changes - new link and tracklist posted in the first post. tried to keep it more of the house/chill feel to it, rather going to a trance vibe towards the end of it.

basically diff tracks after Heartstring (plus a diff. one earlier in the set too)
