I think my wisdom teeth are causing me trouble even though I don't want to think so... because I can't imagine going in to get them taken out! I think they're impacting, how was the removal? Not the same as every other tooth was it? I dread the dentist's office

A friend of mine had to have hers cut in half before removal.
They also tried to put her under for it, but apparently she felt everything all while unable to move or say anything.
I don't know... but I'm a sucker when it comes to blood

Here's a word to cheer you up.... Oxycontin.
... and get it done by a surgeon where you're put under... you don't want to see the guy pull them out with plyers, you'll be scarred for life.

As someone who's had them done without going under (only my mouth was "frozen"), I can tell you that the procedure is peanuts compared to how you're going to feel once you get home and the drugs wear off.

+100
fuck, the most unpleasant dental procedure for me for sure
the swollen cheek and inability to chew on anything except soup was bad too
the easiest part was to remove the stitching after

if your orthodondist is any good, heshe will use dissolving stiches.
There is a whole thread in the Cor about this a few weeks back where I offered a LOT of advice (I had all 4 removed, 3 impacted) It was not a pleasant experience. I'll search for the link.

well they do stitch the gum together... for me they did, because both teeth were cut out of the gums (they were growing in not out, so would never surface)

unfortunately for me, at that time my dentist didn't use dissolving ones, just surgical black thread which she pulled out few weeks later

No stitching for me as I recall... all 4 were done at the same time. I didn't feel much pain after the sedation wore off from the hospital, because the Oxycotin kicked in already. There's so much more soft food to eat than soup. I had a paid week off from work, and high all day for a whole week.

considering the fact that I couldn't open my mouth by more then a few centimeters, or chew at all for that matter, soup was the only option

here you go...its more about how to cope with the discomfort after the procedure which is the most difficult part.
Each case is different depending on the size of your jaw, and whether teeth are impacted or not. I also am POSITIVE that bruising/swelling depends on how gentle/caring your orthodontist is.
