z103.5's Richard Correll -- come on, guy!! jeeze.
We're setting up for a trade show in Toronto, so I borrowed my father's big ford van in order to transport all the gear down from our office up north. The van doesn't have a CD player or a tape deck--just a radio receiver, so rather than hear all the creaks and groans of the equipment in the back, I flipped on the radio to see what is up in Top 40 world. Well, z103.5 is all a-stir about David Guetta. Don't get me wrong, I love the man's vocal house. His global gathering set is quite good and has lots of energy. Apparently he's spinning at the Century Room November 13th, so the Z is doing the ol' give-away. So last night, after the top 9 at 9, a woman comes on the phone, does her thing, and wins the tickets. Richard Correll congratulates her, and she's like "I love David Guetta!" and he responds
"I know--we need to bring more house DJs to Toronto!"
WTF.
Does he not know that Toronto is one of the few places on this planet earth with a thriving house music scene, with some of the most talented and driven house music producers in North America?
I ranted all night to lea about this. Come on, Richard Correll. You're a Toronto Radio Announcer. Get a clue!
