Documentary: Beer Girls (TOTA member production)

Here's a film that my girlfriend and her co-director are working on. While myself and my co-producer have worked hard to release.

While in Asia this summer we met to research, film and explore the story of Beer Girls in Cambodia.

Through a chance stopover in Cambodia for Canadian Professor Ian Lubek exposed him to a modern story of David and Goliath. As women are forced to risk their lives and sell their bodies for the profit of multinational beer corporations.

This is a story developed out of injustice, driven by poverty, shrouded by corporate ignorance and power - all surrounded by the beauty and history of Cambodia.

Check out the demo, this is our newest release, before we travel back to Cambodia in January to finalize the production

We are working towards a 2009 release.

Please comment, this is our labour of love...we can use all the support we can get!!

First of all, good work by your girlfriend, that had me captivated for the entire 5 minutes. Not to mention, I don't think this is something people ever hear about (I certainly didn't know about it) so kudos for bringing the awareness.

As far as suggestions go I would say that when you are requiring the viewer to read a sentence on the screen, it becomes difficult to do so when the sentence takes 3-4 fade in/outs to do so. It is more striking when it can be read on the same screen all at once. That way not as much attention and focus would be taken off of the actual filming that's just going on in the background. I found myself staring at the bottom of the screen because I wanted to read the caption, but not paying attention to what was actually going on on-screen.

Also, I don't know if at the end you want to put "In a January 2008 meeting," instead of "In January 2008" meeting. It just read funny because of the grammar.

I'm really interested in seeing the final of this. Keep us posted.

This is such a sensitive and excellent issue worth exposing to the outside world where very few people in the Western society are aware of.

Working as a beer girl has been a way for for many lower class South Asian women to earn a living. Aside from the actual job, the untold story of earning extra cash by selling their body has a huge effect on the issue of health.

Again, this documentary is definitely a work in progress and if there is need for help in anyway, I would like to volunteer.

this looks like one awesome documentary. As mentioned previously, great way to raise awareness about the topic. I personally had no idea about who beer girls are and what they do. But wow
Excellent quality!!
