I'm considering checking him out this Saturday at EMF (here in LA).

His new CD is quiet good (except for a few tracks).

I agree, not my style either. You wanted to hear his latest sound and I gave you an example. Though I must admit, major props to him for the throwback to Slapshot. Epic hockey movie! :P
