Question Serious Producer Question

Lets say I have two copies of the same track, one being the full version (vocals + instruments) and the other is just an instrumental. Is there software I could use to mash the two together in a way that cancels out the instrumentation leaving me with just an accapella?

Not sure if it has something to do with reversing the polarity or something or another.

But i definitely would like to know wat to use and how to do it.

thanks in advanced!

Sorry man Unfortunately, it can't be done... Reworks and reconstructions do their best at doing that by really messing with the levels (getting rid of low EQs as much as possible), but there's nothing that separates vocals from the song...

if both versions are identical except for one has vocals one does not then its possible, but the vocals will loose certain characteristics

I believe the trick is to invert the instrumental, a feature in the audio editing software, and then paste it over the version with the instrumental and vocals, there by canceling out the instrumental. I have never done it but supposed it works.

Any editing software should work as long as you have that feature.

Will you it involves phase cancelation, but if the tracks are not IDENTICAL it will not work perfectly and leave lots of artifacts. Also we should assume that the tracks are hitting the mastering phase a bit differently so they are going to be a bit different...
