I realize this movie is barely a "video new release" and I'm sure it's been talked about somewhere on the board (I did a search, to no avail) but I can't stress how badly this movie deserves a "heads-up".
I can safely call it the most epic movie I've ever seen (yes I've seen "Ben Hur", yes I've seen "The Ten Commandments"). The intensity level is through the roof, holy wow. (think the last 20 mins of "Requiem for a Dream" mixed in with "Braveheart")
The cinematography, costume design but more importantly storyline are fucking incredible. (10/10/10) Props to Mel Gibson for executing this movie the way he did, from now on I will always pay attention to the work he's doing.
Remember the first time you saw "the Matrix" in the theatre, and you just sat there shaking your head going "what the fuck is happening to me". This movie is like that, but with more blood. lol
*WARNING* Smoke weed/watch at your own discretion, the intensity level is unparalleled to anything else I’ve ever seen.

This scene was so fucking retarded man, holy fuck. I must have said "wow" like over 30 times throughout the movie. Incredible.
Totally agreed. I lol'd at the delay of this thread; surprised this was not noticed earlier!
I'm also glad you mentioned "Braveheart" because imo, nothing beats that. For some reason, I also drop everything to watch "The Patriot" whenever it's on TV. I have always loved Gibson's work, as an actor or director/producer (except for a very minor few here and there).
The part where his family is in the hole and the village was ransacked and prisoners were about to be taken was absolutely gut wrenching. The look of horror on the guy's face and the way the attackers look into his eyes to notice where to look for his family and when the attacker threw things in the hole, was all making me feel sick, like it was my family in the hole. FUCK I loved this movie!!!!

Definitely a movie worth mentioning. I think I'll have to rent this and watch it for the 5th time. So intense and well done. Probably one of my favourite movies of all time.

likewise, i've kind of avoided this movie, because it seemed like it may have been too grusome with no real plot...but i think i'm convinced to at least give it a watch. I've also enjoyed most of mel gibson's work. and love "braveheart" and "the patriot" plus i'm always a sucker for phenominal cinematography.

agreed...i saw this in the theatre and while i liked the whole movie, this sequence blew me away....it didnt feel like a discovery channel 'recreation', but with the set/costume design etc. it totally felt like you were there in this different time & place....and i think what also helped sell it was the casting of a lot of native actors that actually looked the part......great film overall....
